Augusta YMCA partners with health network to bring chronic disease self-management and falls prevention classes
AUGUSTA — Kennebec Valley YMCA is partnering with Healthy Living for ME, a statewide network, to bring chronic disease self-management workshops and falls prevention workshops to the community and its members.
Offered for free or at a low cost, these evidence-based workshops help Mainers to improve their health and wellness, often through simple lifestyle changes, management and prevention strategies, as well as the support of leaders and other workshop participants, according to a news release from the network.
“We are so glad to join the Healthy Living for ME network and add their free and low-cost workshops to the programming we have available for the community,” said Ranae L’Italien, CEO of the Kennebec Valley YMCA. “Helping Mainers lead healthier lives is an important part of our mission, and this partnership will help us expand our ability to do that.”
“The Kennebec Valley YMCA does so much good work to help the health and wellness of Mainers and they will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the Healthy Living for ME Network,” said Jennifer Fortin, fidelity and training manager of Healthy Living for ME. “We are glad to have hit the ground running with their staff in our leader trainings this spring, and look forward to the full launch of workshops as soon as possible.”
