PARSONS — Keyser plated three runs in the fourth inning in taking a 3-1 win over Tucker County Wednesday evening in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Lady Golden Tornado scored all three of their runs after two outs, taking advantage of three Lady Mountain errors and getting an RBI single by Makayla Gillaspie.
Cheyene Gooden led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a homer to account for Tucker County’s lone run.
Both squads received strong pitching efforts as Keyser freshman Rylee Mangold went the distance, allowing four hits and fanning 11.
Paige Shaffer twirled the first four innings in taking the loss. She gave up three hits and three unearned runs.
Ava Shaffer pitched three scoreless frames, surrendering just one hit and striking out a pair.
Kristen Hicks led the Lady Mountain Lions with two hits, including a double.
Keyser (14-2) took the nightcap, 16-0, in three innings as Tayler Likens hit a three-run homer and drove in four and Mangold added a two-run shot.
Charity Wolfe allowed two hits and struck out six and going all three innings to earn the win.
Brianna Gooden was tagged with the loss.
Hicks and Autumn Russell had singles for Tucker County in the loss.
The Lady Mountain Lions (4-7) will visit Pendleton County at 5 p.m. today.
