WHAT: City council meeting Monday
PRESENT: Bill Williams, Bonnie Viele, Robin Zambrini, Michael Mogg, Cathy Cummings, Jerry Crowe, Michael Kerr, Ryan Hallapy and Mayor Ben Kyle
Council:
• Heard from Kyle the city has applied for an Eastgate Regional Planning grant to help with potential economic growth and development in the area called the Route 304 Transportation and Business Hub. He said the area includes Route 304 in the city and heading into Liberty and Hubbard townships;
• Is planning for a scrap tire recycling collection at the township administration building and an electronics recycling collection at the city’s administration building. Kyle said the dates will be announced shortly;
• Heard from Kyle officials will be ranking the condition of streets throughout the city as they prepare for the 2023 street-paving program;
• Recognized Mark Ciccone, wastewater superintendent, for his service to the community. He will be retiring this year;
• Announced a community cleanup will be 9 a.m. to noon April 25 at the cemetery and other locations in the city with Hubbard High School students taking part;
• Entered into a contract with Quasar Energy Group for sludge hauling and disposal for the wastewater treatment plant facility April 1, 2022, to December 2023 at $82.88 per wet ton;
• Heard from Kerr the utilities committee will meet 6 p.m. April 21 and 28 on reviewing water and electric rates for residential and commercial and the current billing system;
• Received the first of two Ford Explorers for the police department obtained through state purchasing;
• Announced the cemetery committee will meet 6:30 p.m. April 12 to discuss the collambarium;
• Announced the street sweeper will be out starting April 18.
