Christmas came and went in the blink of an eye this year, along with all the aspects of the special day that truly make it what it is.

Turkey and all the trimmings, a glass of snowball or three, catching up with our loved ones, and pretending to like that tragic present from the auntie you barely know – it’s all a part of Christmas that most of us are familiar with.

And some people in Scunthorpe certainly haven’t wasted any time in trying to sell on their unwanted pressies this year, it seems.

Here’s a selection of unwanted Christmas gifts that Scunthorpe locals just can’t wait to get rid of.

Babyliss hairdryer and straighteners

A lot of things are uncertain in this day and age, but one thing’s for sure here – one Scunthorpe woman was definitely not happy to open these on Christmas morning.

The receiver of the Babyliss Berry Crush 2200 hairdryer and straighteners was adamant they didn’t want these pressies – so much so that they didn’t even open the box to at least try out their new hair gadgets!

Listed at £20 each, the hairdryer and straighteners would be ideal for someone who’s been using the same old GHDs since about 2008 when poker-straight hair was all the rage.

Children’s inflatable unicorn costume

Mums far and wide can probably relate to this one.

You buy your child a present you think they’ll absolutely love, and feel pretty pleased with yourself, until they recoil in horror on Christmas Day when given said gift. The day is ruined for them – momentarily – until they finally snap out of their tantrum.

That’s clearly what happened when this poor woman spent nearly £40 on a wacky inflatable unicorn costume for her son that she thought was the coolest thing ever, only for him to think the complete opposite.

The description reads: “Unwanted Xmas present. Never been used. Only taken out of packaging to try on but my child didn’t like it. Just want to sell it so he can by himself something else. Really cool fun outfit. Paid £37 for it. Suitable for ages 6 to 12 years.”

Kevyn Aucoin eye shadow

“Beauty belongs to the brave” (Image: Facebook Marketplace)

Questionably described as both “brand new” and “used – like new” in the description, this Kevyn Aucoin eye shadow has been listed on Facebook Marketplace for £15.

The receiver of this unwanted gift has generously discounted £3.50 off the original price – according to the Harrods website, the eye shadow palette is currently on sale for £18.50.

The palette comes equipped with a mini mirror which bears the message: “Beauty belongs to the brave”.

Brave is definitely one thing you have to be to list used eye shadow on Facebook Marketplace.

Feebee puppet

(Image: Facebook Marketplace)

Listed at £50, with an RRP of around £100, it took these parents just four days to bang this strange-looking puppet up for sale on Facebook Marketplace, after the kids became “creeped out” by their unwanted present.

The description reads: “Now unwanted as our kids are “creeped out” by her. Will come with nappy and shoes if we find them.”

I can’t help but wonder how the nappy and shoes have managed to get lost already, but I digress.

Haunted puppet, anyone? Hours of fun guaranteed!

Gold candle

(Image: Facebook Marketplace)

Cheap as chips at just £1, someone in Scunthorpe is clearly desperate to get rid of this shiny gold candle.

Does it smell that bad? Clash unbearably

with their decor? Or maybe it’s cursed?

Whatever’s going on, this candle is obviously just getting on their wick.
