Huntsman Heroes is a running and biking group with the motto, “Train together, fundraise together, find a cure for cancer together.” Over the past decade, the Salt Lake Marathon has helped them raise over $5 MIL toward this cause.
Anyone can participate or support the cause, said a representative of the Salt Lake Marathon. “[We have] something for everyone, even if you are just beginning your athletic endeavors and want to walk the 5k, or if you’re more experienced and want to qualify for the Boston marathon.”
For those who can’t run or who don’t want to participate athletically, there are many volunteer positions available. Even watching the marathon from the sidelines makes a great show of support to encourage the athletes.
“We have the most incredible volunteers who help us set up this event and we always love the help,” said a representative of the marathon. “But also come support and see the athletes who need the extra boost.”
The wide variety of ways to support makes the marathon a versatile way to contribute to a good cause.

2022 Salt Lake Marathon Information for Attendees
The Salt Lake Marathon was postponed due to COVID-19 in 2020, and organizers of the Salt Lake Marathon are thrilled to bring the marathon back once again for 2022.
Events include a full or half marathon, bike or skate tour, 5K, 10K, a wheelchair race, and even a kids’ race.
Participants from the University of Utah will also race on 26.2 handcycles, a type of vehicle that is reportedly the fastest-growing segment of wheelchair racing.
There is truly something for everyone, regardless of experience level.
Each race comes with its own perks and swag, such as one-of-a-kind t-shirts, medals, goody bags, and water and food throughout the race and at the finish line.
Skaters can join competitively or for fun, and helmets are required for both skaters and bikers.
With race courses trailing throughout Salt Lake City and ending at the Library Square downtown, this event doesn’t just support a good cause, but it is also a beautiful experience for athletes and families alike.
“Get ready to see some incredible views,” said the Salt Lake Marathon team. “It is a super neat, dynamic course in this urban setting with the Wasatch Mountains towering off to the side.”
Free TRAX rides are also available to help participants return home after the race is over. Early TRAX/ UTA service begins at 4:09 AM the day of the race.
Parking can be found at the Salt Palace Convention Center or City Creek. More information on parking is available on the SLC Parking website.

One of the Biggest Salt Lake City Family Activities of 2022
The Salt Lake Marathon 2022 promises family fun in SLC for adults and kids of all ages. Some races are even stroller-friendly, making it easy for families to participate with or without their children.
The Kids’ K was started by the University of Utah Health to promote goal-setting and achievement, to fight childhood obesity by teaching the fundamentals of good habits and a healthy lifestyle, and to build children’s self-esteem by providing a basis for lifetime health and fitness habits. Children who participate will receive a Salt Lake City Kids K t-shirt, an award medal, a goody bag, and food at the finish line.
At the close of the Salt Lake City Marathon, there will be a celebration at the downtown Library Square, at 200 East, between 400 South and 500 South. There will be plenty of fun for adults and children alike, including interactive exhibits, food, and lots of celebration and cheer for the athletes.
Families can meet with their athletes and celebrate with a beer garden, live music, free swag, fun kids’ activities, all in one giant after party.
Anyone looking for family events in Salt Lake City should consider participating in the Salt Lake Marathon and supporting cancer research.
